About Klein and Company
Inc.
Klein and Company, Inc. was started by Herbert S. Klein in 1957 after resigning from employment as
a terrazzo supply salesman in New Jersey and relocating to Atlanta, Georgia. The 50's, 60's and 70's saw terrazzo
flooring at it's most popular period, especially in the state of Florida where all the homes had a terrazzo floor! The
sale of terrazzo aggregates, divider strip, grinding stones, machinery and other material used was primarily in the
southeastern United States.
During the late 70's and early 80's, terrazzo floor installation was
reduced dramatically in the southeast by the introduction of carpet and other floor material. It was at this time that
Klein and Company, Inc. started producing tile sealers, cleaners and grout releases. Klein and Company, Inc. was the first
company to produce a grout release for the ceramic tile and brick industry.
Klein and Company, Inc. was
also the first to introduce "Easy Etch", a sulfamic acid for cleaning brick pavers and tiles without the side
effects of muratic acid. The use of brass dividers to stop marble tiles from chipping at the edge, where it meets the
carpet, became popular in the mid 80's, hence PTE, Style Edge and other type dividers for sale to the ceramic tile
distributor. Klein and Company, Inc. is now in its 51st year of successful operation! We are looking forward to continued
growth worldwide via e-commerce!
