Protect The Edge

PTE is an acronym for "Protect The Edge" which means to protect the edge of tile, marble or other flooring materials subject to chipping at the edge.

The most common use of PTE is to provide a transition from hard floor products to carpet flooring. In many situations it is used as a decorative strip to provide a linear design between tiles.

PTE is offered in several types of material or finish - brass, zinc or plastic top (in various colors) and the base for heavy top strip is usually zinc coated steel.
